Biography
Composer Alexey Tikhomirov (in the past Yakovenko) was born in Moscow in
1975. When he was 5, he began his studies in a music school in Lobnja, a
town near Moscow and lived there with his parents till 2000. When he was 9,
he started to compose, and taught himself to play the guitar. At 12 he
finished the music school as a pianist. He played in many bands and gave
solo shows in Lobnja and Moscow. After school he studied optical devices in
a University and at the same time attended lectures in the Moscow
Conservatory. His knowledge of optics was very useful in the technical part
of his future studio work.
Since 1995 music became his profession, he worked as a composer, arranger,
sound engineer, mastering engineer, and made experiments with sound
synthesizers in his professional studio, that he created in his home.
Besides, he worked for many other studios. The biggest influence for him
were such composers as Alexey Rybnikov, Eduart Artemiev, Igor Kezlja, Didier
Maruani, Jean Michel Jarre, etc. In 2000 he recorded his first instrumental
album Sansara (don't mix up with the rock band Sansara, it appeared later
and is not involved with this project). The project is a perfect mix of
western ethno-ambient and enigmatic styles and has original melodies,
exclusive samples and author's own well-recognized style. In some
compositions live vocals and brass were used. It is interesting to note that
there is no similar projects in Russia, except, possibly, Max Fadeev's
compositions of similar style, although such music has had a lot of success
all over the world. At the moment Alexey works on the second part of his
second album, as well as at the remake of the project of Igor Kezlja "New
Collection" which is known by many TV music intros (TV program "Good Evening
Moscow" and many more).
The first album of Sansara project was approved (in written) in Virgin
Records in Munich (which recorded, for example, Enigma), although Virgin
Records does not promote unknown artists. The album was very successful on
shows and presentations, as well as in movies and TV programs. His music was
used, for example, in a film by Grigor Gjardushan "Pirates' Empire"
(produced by "Three Whales" company).
At the moment Alexey lives at the center of Moscow, where he has his studio.
In his free time he writes poems, rides his motobike, participates in sports
and travels.
